You will see amazing views of the spectacular MacDonnell Ranges from your hot air balloon flight. We do not fly over or near the Ranges but you will certainly see them for as long as the eye can see.

Start your ballooning adventure in the pre-dawn when the outback sky is alight with the brightest stars and the air is fresh and cool. Inflation of the balloon begins with the first faint glow of dawn in the east and we are aloft when the powerful rays of sunrise light up this ancient red land and its brooding sentinel, the MacDonnell Ranges.

Drift over this rugged landscape and appreciate its immensity, keeping an eye out for native wildlife including the iconic Red Kangaroo. After the flight enjoy light refreshments including sparkling wine and fruit juice, which is served at the landing site. A superb way to see the Australian outback.

EXCLUSIONS

The listed price does not include the mandatory Civil Aviation Safety Authority Insurance. This insurance charge is AUD$30 per person and applies to all passengers regardless of age. This can be paid by cash, credit card or EFTPOS on the morning of the tour.

Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 3 days of travel. In this case confirmation will be received within 48 hours, subject to availability
On occasion, the 60 minute flight time may be two separate, sequential 30 minute flights taken one directly after the other with a short changeover in between the two flights, depending on operational restrictions. Passengers will be notified the day prior should this be the case on the day of their flight.
Child price applies to 6-16 years and must be accompanied by an adult.
Children 3-5 years are not recommended but considered on an individual basis.
Weather Conditions
Safety is our primary concern and if we are prevented from flying due to unsuitable weather conditions, passengers may either re-book for another day or receive a full refund. The pilot’s decision with regard to flying conditions is final.
Where possible, the balloon flight should always be booked for the first available day in the area to allow for re-booking in case of bad weather.
General Health
Physical fitness is not a requirement to enjoy a ballooning adventure, but passengers must be able to climb up and into the basket (approx. 1.2 metres in height) unaided using the basket foot holes and stand for the duration of the flight.
Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) rules and regulations and Outback Ballooning’s policy prevent us from flying women who are over 12 weeks pregnant. Pregnancy must be advised in advance.
Illness and/or recent operations that may affect the person or other persons on the tour must be notified to Outback Ballooning in advance. Medication should be brought on the tour.
The packing up tasks at the end of the flight are optional and we would appreciate your assistance in these enjoyable activities. However, they do involve some lifting and participation is entirely voluntary. Passengers that are less able bodied are invited to stand back and take photos. Persons with medical conditions participating in the balloon flight and pack up activities do so at their own risk.
Any form of disablement must be discussed with Outback Ballooning prior to making a booking. Each person is considered on an individual basis.
The flight and carriage of any passenger will take place at the pilot’s discretion.

Surpassed expectations. Everything about this activity was easy and enjoyable. Duncan the pilot and Nathan the driver were affable and professional. Experience was amazing - the dawn colours and birdseye view a must-do experience. Home by 8 am!

All staff were very approachable, helpful and knowledgable. I have a dietery need (coeliac) and I was well catered for with a special picnic pack. Champagne was available until gone! Although there is not much to see from the air over the desert and limited by the no-fly zones of Pine Gap and the airport, the sunrise was beautiful and our pilot, Duncan kept us entertained and was full of fun facts. You will need to be able to climb into the basket fairly unassisted!

As a ballooning first timer, this was a great introduction. I can see why the pilots love it. From Kylie the pick-up driver through to Jason the pilot you could sense they all really enjoyed their job. And it certainly helps to enjoy some bubbles after wrapping up the balloon

I was so surprised by how much I really enjoyed this. It was just so beautiful. It was so quite and smooth. Loved everything about it apart from getting up so early when it was so cold. But once I was in the air it was so worth it. The champagne breakfast was a great way to finish a stunning morning. Thanks to these guys was amazing.

Watching the sun rise while enjoying the company of like minded people and listening to the knowledgeable commentary by our pilot was so memorable. Wonderful Staff. Learned a little about the history of ballooning from our driver and got to assist in folding that enormous envelope into a small box at the end. Highly Recommended.

Well organised, thorough and cheerful to boot! Clearly I a lot of effort goes into the flight - we had a quick paced flight where what would normally take an hour only took half of that due to rapid changes in wind conditions. Duncan our balloon pilot really earned his money!!! Everyone was friendly awesome and happy to banter and tell us more about the nuts and bolts of balloon flights (Duncan does a lot of recreational flights of his own and clearly loves it!!!). Definitely recommended. I’ve flown before in other parts of Australia but this was next level because we were seeing some distant showers of rain and the clouds made sunrise pretty epic. Conditions in AS are quite different to that of other parts of Australia and require someone really on their game. Would recommend for especially first time flyers too because the amount of experience and obvious enjoyment the crew get out of this is fantastic!

This experience is not to be missed. It was wonderful to watch the sunrise over the ranges, to feel the gentle breeze and sunshine on my skin as the balloon slowly glided across the plains.

Fantastic! A must do. Was worried I would be scared in a basket in the air, but have no fear, this is the most peaceful, amazing experience. The whole team were excellent and so much fun. The sunrise was spectacular, loved every minute. Thank you Outback Ballooning 🎈🧺

Awesome, never done it before. It was among the top 10 things to do in Alice, I am glad I did it. It was a great experience from the moment I have been picked up at my hotel to the moment when we packed the Balloon away. The crew is very knowledgeable and the views are great from up above. The quiet is very calming and I felt safe all along.
